£38,891- £43,217 per annum

35 hours per week

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the leading medical authority on mental health in the United Kingdom and is the professional and educational organisation for doctors specialising in psychiatry. The College plays a central role in establishing and promoting the highest standards of psychiatric care and training in the United Kingdom.

Policy and Communications at the Royal College of Psychiatrists is changing and this is an opportunity to shape and be part of that change at an exciting time for Mental Health Policy.  This new role, based in the policy team of the College’s Department of Strategic Communications, has been created to enable the College to originate and deliver data analysis and research to provide material for impactful campaigns and generate media headlines.  The successful candidate will have excellent data analysis and mathematical skills, strong organisational ability, and a desire to play a key role in helping the College to achieve its vision to ensure that mental health care is given the resources it needs and deserves. 

Working closely with the Policy Research Fellow, and with College Officers and senior members of the College, they will decide which research to undertake and which data sources to use, to help the College set the agenda and shape the debate. They will combine an ability to work under time pressure with high-level creative and problem-solving skills, and the imagination and ingenuity to adapt and utilise a wide range of data sources.  They will also be skilled in writing effective research briefs and will relish sourcing difficult-to-find datasets, including those relating to the devolved nations of the UK.
