The Royal College of Psychiatrists Improving the lives of people with mental illness

'Never Give Up' by Jax McAulay

Presented at a public seminar as part of the 4th Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival 2010.

A broken heart feels like the devil tearing me apart,

Through all my sorrow pain and loss.

Tortured inside, the hurt i feel is too emotional to describe,

when my world fell apart.

my mind ached in turmoil, full of confusion, blinded by my tears i could not see.

Its like the devil taking my soul, my very last breath, anger controlling my existence.

Lost and alone in the dark, trying to find a way out.

STOP, STEPBACK, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, HOLD ON AND TRY AGAIN.

You can get your life back if you choose to put up a fight, dont let go.

Dont miss out on the rest of your life and fade into the darkness.you can get through this.

Give yourself a second chance, stand up and be recognised,

find strength from those who love you unconditionally.

Esteem from those who will listen and care, guiding you to a safe place so that your heart can heal and the pain subsides as you close the door to the past. dont look back, let it go.

New life, new directions, create good memories for your future.

Go on, turn your life around, believe in yourself. if i can do it then maybe you can too.

STOP, STEPBACK,TAKE A DEEP BREATH, HOLD ON.THEN TRY AGAIN, AGAIN,AND AGAIN. DONT GIVE UP HOPE.
