Dr Paul Lelliott, consultant psychiatrist and
director of the College Research and Training Unit, has been
appointed as an expert member of the Department of Health’s
National Quality Board (NQB).
The board has been set up to help deliver the
goal of high quality NHS care for patients, as set out in Lord Ara
Darzi’s Next Stage Review.
Dr Lelliott is one of six expert members
appointed independently to the NQB. The board also comprises
six independently-appointed lay members, four members appointed
from within the Department of Health, and four members appointed
from national bodies with close links to the NHS. The board will be
chaired by NHS chief executive David Nicholson.
The NQB will hold its first meeting on the 30
March 2009, and produce an annual report on delivering quality in
June 2009.
