RCPsych in Scotland responds to Mental Welfare Commission report
Embargoed until 11 August 2011
The Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland
welcomes the launch today of the
Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland report, Not
Properly Authorised, on compliance with part 16 of
the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act
2003.
The College is involved in the design of
training for psychiatrists approved under the Act and the content
of this training is regularly reviewed. We will ensure both initial
and refresher training gives due emphasis to the safeguards under
part 16 of the Act as this report recommends. We will continue to
work closely with the training provider and Health Boards across
Scotland to ensure high professional standards are maintained.
