MPs will hold a debate in the House of Commons
on Thursday 14 June 2012 to discuss a variety of issues around the
topic of mental health.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists welcomes
this debate as while mental health does get discussed in
Parliament, this is the first time for many years that MPs will be
able to consider the subject in such detail in the main chamber of
the House of Commons.
Working jointly with the mental health
charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, the College has produced
a briefing for MPs outlining some of our key areas of concern,
which include:
- Health and social care
- Welfare reform
- Employment and equality
- Stigma and discrimination
