It is a mandatory
requirement for all trainees to be registered with the College, as
set out in the “Gold Guide” (section 2.15):
‘All doctors in training should enrol/register with the relevant
Royal College/Faculty so that:
- progress in their training can be kept under review and
supported where required
- eligible trainees can be recommended to PMETB for
consideration of award of a CCT at the end of specialty
training’.

Please note that, in
order to access the benefits of Portfolio Online, trainees
will have to be registered with the College.
Please note the following
before proceeding to Online Trainee Registration: As part of the
registration process you will be required to make an online
payment, which will be processed securely via Netbanx.
Your payment will be processed in sterling, and the merchant
processing the payment is located within the United Kingdom.
You will be purchasing Trainee Registration with the Royal College
of Psychiatrists until the end of the College subscription year
during which you register (31st December in any calendar year).
This registration includes, unless you specifically decline this
associated benefit, registration as a Pre-Membership Psychiatric
Trainee of the College.
Once you have purchased this registration for this initial period,
a refund will be given only at the discretion of, and on
application to, the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Sympathetic consideration to such a refund will normally be given
where a trainee leaves psychiatric training, suffers circumstances
of unusual hardship or otherwise at the discretion of the
College. In these circumstances please contact Paul O'Connor,

writing to him at The Royal College of Psychiatrists, 17 Belgrave
Square, London SW1X 8PG. Please provide full details of the
relevant circumstances. The College will contact you to confirm the
