Previously, trainees in psychiatry could
count up to a maximum of 3 months whole time equivalent whilst on
maternity leave or sick leave towards their CCT or CESR CP.
As of 1 April 2013, trainees who have been
absent for a total of more than 14 days within each 12 month period
will require their CCT or CESR CP date to be reviewed. A decision
on whether an extension to the CCT or CESR CP date needs to occur
is decided in consultation between the deanery and the college. It
is unlikely that they will do this on every absence occasion
although as this is undertaken at the ARCP it is likely that there
will be input from college individuals (i.e. TPDs). Each trainee
will be considered on an individual basis, and any changes will
reflect the trainee’s competence.

training can be found
Please ensure you contact the Royal College
of Psychiatrists if there are any extensions to your training which
will necessitate revision of your CCT or CESR CP date.
