Ghana Programme for Trainees

There is an exciting opportunity for higher trainees to take part in an OOPT/E in Ghana for 3 months, placements are available throughout the year. This would be particularly suited to Old Age and General Adult trainees, but welcomes applications from all specialties.



JSPN Fellowship

The Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology offer an annual Fellowship to travel to their conference in Japan every summer.  Up to two people from each country can be put forward for the award. More information on this can be found of the JSPN's website.


Research Training Fellowships for Psychiatrists

Oxford University is pleased to announce a Training Fellowship programme specifically targeted at psychiatrists, and leading to award of a D.Phil. (=Ph.D.).  It is funded by the Wellcome Trust. Three Fellowships are available each year.


Psychiatry trainees at any stage from CT1 to ST6 are welcome to apply, and the scheme is flexible as to your clinical training needs. The main selection criterion is excellence and potential: we are looking for the next generation of academic psychiatrists.

The Margaret Slack Travelling Fellowship

This travelling fellowship is awarded from funds bequeathed by Margaret Mary Slack. This travelling fellowship is intended to encourage senior psychiatric trainees to broaden their academic knowledge and experience in a centre of excellence either in the UK or abroad.  Though not essential, candidates may wish to pursue a research study. Visits are expected to be no longer than two to four weeks.

Applications will be judged against the following criteria:

  • The academic achievements shown by the candidate to date, based upon their CV and references.
  • The academic value of the proposed visit and research project.
  • The future academic plans, and academic potential, of the candidate.

Prize: £2,000

Frequency:  Annual

Closing date: 31 December

Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM)

The National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow Scheme for junior doctors provides doctors in training with a unique opportunity to spend 12 months in a national healthcare-affiliated organisation outside of clinical practice to develop their skills in leadership, management, strategy, project management, and health policy.
