The Royal College of Psychiatrists Improving the lives of people with mental illness

Updated: Underfunded child and adolescent mental health services: how much is spent in your region?

Our online tool can help you find out how much was spent on mental health for children and young people in your region in 2016/17.

New research from the Royal College of Psychiatrists shows there are huge differences across the country.

England is divided into Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) who decide how NHS funding should be allocated.

Our figures show that:

  • 33 CCGs spent less than £35 per head on mental health for children and young people in 2016/17
  • 148 CCGs spent between £35 and £70 per head
  • 28 CCGs spent less more than £70 per head
