SPRING 2017

THE MIND, BRAIN AND BODY

Friday 17th March 2017 - York Racecourse, York, YO23 1EX

Human behaviour has a complex, dependent relationship with the mind and brain with each being able to influence the other. In this conference we intend to explore these complexities by hearing from leading experts on particular clinical presentations which illustrate the relationship (CFS/ME and Medically unexplained Symptom presentations) as well as by discovering how changes in neurobiology can influence addictive behaviours.  We will also learn about how the latest imaging techniques have shed light on the molecular processes underlying psychiatric presentations and how efforts are being made to ensure the latest College curriculum includes neuroscientific advances.

Speakers Included:

  • Professor Anne Lingford-Hughes | The Neurobiology of Addiction
  • Dr Wendy Burn & Dr Gareth Cuttle | Neuroscience and the New RCPsych Curriculum
  • Professor Else Guthrie | Medically Unexplained Symptoms
  • Dr Arshad Zaman | The Use of fMRI in Psychiatry
  • Professor Peter White | Latest Opinions on Chronic Fatigues Syndrome and the Role of Psychiatry in its Management
