South West Division

About the South West Division

The Division covers both the Severn and Peninsula Deaneries and part of Dorset. The Executive Committee meets five times a year, usually in March, June, September and December and for a Strategy Day during the summer. The Executive Committee is very active and feels that it is important to keep members in touch with the Division and the role it takes in representing them. An Annual General Meeting is held in the spring to coincide with the Spring Biannual Meeting.

High quality scientific conferences are held in the spring and autumn with the spring meeting being held in the south of the region and the autumn meeting held in the Bristol area.

The Division, through the South West Training Division (SWDT), provides high quality post graduate education for the personal development and continuing professional development of psychiatrists in the region.

The South West Division office is situated in Coombe Lodge, Blagdon approximately 13 miles south west of Bristol on the A368.

Travel Directions: If you are travelling north on the A38 turn right at the sign for Burrington and Blagdon (A368).

If you are travelling south on the A38 turn left at the traffic lights in Churchill sign posted Burrington and Blagdon (A368).

Travelling from the A38, the drive for Coombe Lodge (clearly signed) is on the left hand side approximately 1 mile past the village of Rickford .

If you are travelling on the A368 from the direction of Bath, the entrance to Coombe Lodge is on the right hand side as you leave the village of Blagdon.

Bristol Airport is 4.5 miles away by road and the nearest railway stations are Bristol Temple Meads (15 miles away) or Yatton (approx 10 miles). Please note that there is no taxi rank at Yatton Station and taxis need to be booked in advance.
